MatrAIx: Simulating the World with 8.3 Billion Persona Agents

Published in arXiv preprint arXiv:2608.04205, 2026

MatrAIx is a population-scale simulated-user evaluation infrastructure for testing AI systems and digital products with heterogeneous users instead of costly human panels.

Components

  • Persona 8B: 8.3 billion persona records across 1,290 categorical dimensions, with a released quality-filtered coreset of ~1 million personas (599,847 human-grounded, 400,000 synthetic).
  • Playground: four environments (Survey, AI Chatbot, Web, App) where diverse persona agents evaluate and interact with digital products.
  • Tasks: 1,010 application tasks spanning more than 25 domains including Commerce, Software, Finance, and Healthcare.

Validation

  • In a 400-trial controlled study, declared behavior was expressed or correctly suppressed in 91.5% of trials across ten behavioral attributes and all four environments.
  • 18,189 evaluation trials were run with persona agents powered by Claude Opus 4.8, GPT 5.5, and Claude Haiku 4.5.
